The Alumni and Friends of American Universities Association of Mallorca was created to bring together former graduates of American universities who reside on the island, thus serving as a meeting point for many throughout the years.
It was founded by University of Wisconsin graduate Jean Pierce in 1995, who chaired it until 2010. Jean's leadership held the group together since its creation, and it is now being chaired by Wisconsin graduate Tim Klein.
The group meets two or three times a year, to visit Mallorca's historical sites and for informal luncheons.
In the last six years
FAAUM has held visits to the University of the Balearic Islands,
Costa Nord and a guided visit to the
Fray Junípero Serra Museum, led by Tummy Bestard, President of Friends of Fray Junípero Serra Museum,
The Miró Museum and the
Krekovic Museum, the Gran Hotel and Ses Voltes exhibits, as well as a guided visit to the
Raixa Historical State in Bunyola and Palma's
Casal Solleric.
